All of the products featured in our SHOP are created, designed and hand made by local community members comprising mostly of women, veterans, the disabled and community members suffering from economical hardship. Every donation and every purchase goes toward the empowerment of these individuals as well as supporting our community projects and workshops space and events.
Ms. James is a local woman recovering from years of serious illness which prevented her from working. Ms. James found difficulty finding employment that would provide a living wage after years of unemployment. As a single mother of an autistic child, her time at Live Decent has been invaluable. Having learned sewing skills she has been able to earn supplemental income. She also participates in our vegan workshops and has adopted healthy eating habits which have resulted in health improvements.
Our Founder. Mrs. English is a strong independent woman that had a vision and determination to help her community become more empowered and self sufficient. Rebuilding a sense of pride within our neighborhoods leading by example and tirelessly working to improve her community by planting community gardens, cleaning and weeding abandoned lots, engaging her fellow neighbors and compelling everyone around her to do their part to not only improve their own lives but to help other people's lives too.
Prince is a local young man pursuing a career in art and graphic art and design. He is exceptional at charcoal pieces and has been asked to guest teach his art class by his professor. He is trying to find his way in the world navigating through college, finding his independence and all while being on the autism spectrum. Despite having extreme social anxiety he has started spending time with Live Decent and applying newly learned skills towards producing one of a kind prints and art works.
M.W. is a local young girl of merely 6 with a baby sister and brother to help look after. She has recently been separated from both parents and is starting to participate in Live Decent's Youth Encouragement Programing. She shows extreme interest in all things delicious and home made so she will be starting our healthy eating on a budget workshops catering to small humans.
Violet is young and small but has a HUGE personality! She already shows extreme interest in nature, gardening and fresh juicing. She doesn't really 'make' anything yet but she's working on somethings in our 'Makers' Workshop. In the meantime you can see her in some of our ads and videos picking peppers in our gardens and helping make fresh ginger juice with grapes.
EJ is a local woman who is a self taught woodworker and carpenter. She sources all of her lumber from sustainable wood, many times up-cycling scraps and off cuts that would otherwise be trashed. Her works include endangered species pieces that 3% of sales are donated to animal rescue organizations. EJ has recently began to participate in Live Decent's Enspiring, Promoting & Piloting Entrepreneurship Program enabling her to quit her day job to pursue her own business!
